Robin Reiter-Faragalli

Robin maintains an active consulting practice in the areas of corporate philanthropy and family foundations and inter-generational issues, through her company, Reiter & Associates, LLC. Her corporate focus is on helping to strategically position corporations in the community and helping to establish corporate foundations/giving programs. Her work with family and private foundations includes the formation of foundations, governance and stewardship issues, identifying priorities, reviewing proposed contributions and organizations, identifying and recommending charitable organizations, and engaging younger family members in the art of charitable giving and civic involvement.

Robin served as President of Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation (7/02-4/06); an $85+ million endowed Foundation, and was responsible for directing all of the development and programmatic activities of the Foundation in support of Miami Children’s Hospital. She reported to the Board of Directors of the Foundation.

Prior to this appointment, Robin served as Vice President of Human Resources for The Miami Herald Publishing Company, providing the company with human capital development.  She joined The Miami Herald Publishing Company in August of 1999, as Vice President of Human Resources and served in that capacity until June, 2002.  As a member of the Executive Management Team, Robin was responsible for all employee-related issues and was an active architect of the yearly planning process company-wide.

From January 1994 through August 1999, Robin was Senior Vice President and Executive Director of BankAtlantic Foundation, which facilitated all charitable contributions on behalf of BankAtlantic in Florida.  Robin was hired to create the Foundation and to develop a civic presence for BankAtlantic.

Between 1991 and 1993, Robin was an independent consultant in the areas of philanthropy, community and economic development, and political and civil affairs.  Her clients included universities, corporations, foundations and public agencies in the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean.  As a consultant for a project of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce designed to “jump start” the economy in Miami-Dade County, Robin helped to identify close to $800 million in public construction projects which were fast-tracked in 1992.

Prior to her work as a consultant, Robin served as Vice President of Corporate Community Involvement and Executive Director of the Southeast Banking Corporation Foundation.  Hired by Southeast Bank in 1980, Robin created the Foundation and guided its programs for its 11-year history.  In this role, she was also responsible for assisting the Bank with all social investing policies and the Community Reinvestment Act, as well as providing the overall link between Southeast Bank and the communities it served, through organizations and government agencies throughout Florida and the nation.

Robin has served as a guest speaker and panelist to many organizations, including Yale University, Virginia Polytechnic Institute, The Conference Board, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Council on Foundations, and the Business Committee for the Arts.  She has authored articles for The Miami Herald, The Contributions Handbook, Foundation News and New Society in Great Britain, and has served as a member of the Board of Contributors of The Miami Herald, contributing articles that impact the not-for-profit sector.

Robin is a graduate of Carnegie Tech in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Public Health Trust which governs the Jackson Health System and served as the founding Chairman of Miami-Dade County’s Citizen Oversight Committee for the $2.9 billion capital improvement bond program. Robin is a Past-Chairman of The Beacon Council, Miami-Dade’s public/private economic development organization, and is a member of the Board. She served on the Governor’s Committee on Base Realignment and Closures.  Robin was Chairman of the Miami City Club, and is a member of the Board of the I.C.W.I. Group Foundation in Jamaica and a Director of Peacock Foundation Inc., a private foundation in Miami-Dade County,  and is a Past- President of the 200 Club of Greater Miami.  Robin is a former Board Member of the International Women’s Forum in Washington, D.C. and currently serves on their Leadership Foundation Board.  In addition, she has served as Co-Chair of the Dade-Monroe WAGES Coalition, with the Mayor of Miami-Dade County, overseeing welfare reform; Chairman of the Miami-Dade Public Schools Blue Ribbon Committee overseeing the expenditure of $1 billion of capital improvements; Treasurer to the Council on Foundations in Washington; the National Endowment for the Arts Theatre Panel; as Chairman of the State Theatre Board of Florida, and as Chairman and Founder of both the Florida Foundation Group and the Donors Forum of Miami. 

In May, 1999, Barry University awarded Robin an Honorary Doctorate of Laws Degree for her service to the community.
